Rutgers University vs. Stockton University (ACHA M2)

On Friday, December 13th, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights travel to face Stockton University in a 7:00 p.m. matchup. With Rutgers entering as one of the hottest teams in the Silver Division, this game offers a compelling look at a top contender versus an out-of-league opponent.

Rutgers is on a tear, unbeaten since November 10th and boasting an impressive record with only two losses in their last 14 games. Fresh off their first appearance in the National Top 5 rankings this season, the Scarlet Knights are riding high after a dominant weekend, defeating Hofstra 14-0 and Stevens 8-4.

Statistically, Rutgers leads the Silver Division in multiple categories, including goals per game (6.6), goals against per game (3.3), and powerplay goals per game (1.1). Jamie Zimmerman and Gavin Rieger are the offensive cornerstones, with Zimmerman tallying 21 goals and 11 assists (32 points) and Rieger posting 13 goals and 18 assists (31 points). Rieger, last season’s Black Division Rookie of the Year, needs just one more point to match his total from last season.

The Scarlet Knights have also benefitted from consistent goaltending. Aaron Rodriguez, with eight games played, leads the trio of netminders with a 2.99 GAA and a .905 save percentage, adding stability to their backend.

Stockton University, although they have only played 2 games against AAU College Hockey opponents, have shown flashes of competitiveness. They shut out Stevens Institute of Technology 4-0 but fell 7-2 to St. Joseph’s University (DII, ACCHL).

With Rutgers aiming to maintain their streak and Stockton looking to make a statement, this game promises to deliver action and excitement.
