Purple Division Quarterfinals: Fordham Dominates Ramapo

by Justin Miller

In the first game of the Purple Division tournament, #4 Fordham took on #5 Ramapo. Fordham exploded out of the gates, with Anthony DeMario barreling down and burying the game’s first goal just 20 seconds into the contest. The scoring paused until the second, when Andrew Carlson ripped in a one-timer to put Fordham up by two. A nice display of passing helped set up Carlson’s second goal of the period, just minutes after his first.

Taking a 3-0 lead into the third, the Rams would further secure their already big lead with a goal from Carmine Pittelli just 16 seconds into the period.  A laser from Pittelli, followed by a goal from Robert Rotondo Jr., sealed a 6-0 quarterfinal victory for the Rams. The Roadrunners couldn’t generate offense in this one, as Daniel Gerts refused to be beaten. He picked up a 41-save shutout in the win. Fordham will either play Farmingdale or Quinnipiac in their semi-final matchup on Saturday.
