ECHC Weekend Recap - 9/13 - 9/15
This weekend featured exciting AAU College Hockey matchups, with multiple teams hitting the ice for their first exhibition games of the 2024-25 season.
The University of Delaware Blue Hens (DI) were defeated by the Rowan University Profs (ACCHL DIII) 7-5 in a fast-paced battle, while Ramapo College of New Jersey Roadrunners (DII) took down Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks (DIII) 5-2 in a Black Division v. Silver Division exhibition game.
In the Rowan-Delaware game, Rowan's offensive prowess in the second period gave them the advantage, despite Delaware’s strong efforts in the final frame. Connor Callahan’s four-point night (2 goals, 2 assists) and Rowan’s depth scoring were instrumental in securing the win. Meanwhile, Delaware fought valiantly but couldn't close the gap despite late-game goals from Michael DePrisco and Cam Raifstanger.
On Sunday night, Ramapo College's dominant 5-2 win over Stevens highlighted their strong start and consistent pressure. Ramapo's Anthony (Brock) Fizer led the charge with two goals, while Daniel Kulbanskiy and Robert Wogisch added crucial strikes in the second period. James Sonvico added on with his first collegiate goal for the Roadrunners.
On the other side, there were notable milestones for multiple Ducks, as defenseman, Kevin McNamara and forward, Kyle Daly netted their first collegiate goals for the team. Stevens, despite a late goal from freshman, Kyle Daly, was unable to generate enough offense to challenge Ramapo’s control over the game.
Both games showcased the intensity and competitive spirit that our teams are bringing into this season, with teams putting it all on the line, pushing the limits to secure victories.
